Astra Munma: Tidally Locked Satellite
Astra Munma's main purpose was to understand how the Mun affected Kerbin with it's tidal forces, along with how bits of Kerbin ended up there.
Astra Munma's main purpose was to understand how the Mun affected Kerbin with it's tidal forces, along with how bits of Kerbin ended up there.
The main purpose of the first mission was to test the Munar rocket. The design of it replicated the Astra Minma rocket, with the exception that it had solid rocket boosters.
Since the Munma was heavily based off of the Minma, extensive testing was not needed, and the rocket went straight for "The Mun." This landing solidified that Kerbals had the capabilities to go anywhere they wanted in their own system.
Now that we could land on The Mun, kerbals were tasked to grab surface samples from the surface of The Mun. As they were being processed, the samples had a similarity to samples of Kerbin's mountains and areas of Minmus. Perhaps the three were alike?
After the discoveries made on Astra Munma 3 were made, Satellites were sent to The Mun to detect Tidal forces and their affects. This mission was a success, and Tidal forces were discovered to exist.
In a contract, Ore was requested to be returned back to Kerbin for inspection by I.K.E. Industries. Thus, an ore tanker was sent to The Mun, gathered Ore, and returned to Kerbin with Data.
