- Stellar Gateway - The Search
Following the M.U.N.P. missions and Seedun's re-election, Kerbelia called for further expansion into the unknown. To do this, however, they had to set up a Gateway base to prepare interstellar craft to push beyond the bounds of Kerbol's gravity well. And, the place for this base was set to be in the Saranus System, as it would be easiest to use "GravTech" here, and the system was wealthy in resources. Two places were possible for this base: Slate, or Eeloo. Thus, a mission was set to scout out these two areas. N.S.P. would scout out Slate, while Eeloo would be scouted by K.M.L.
- Stellar Gateway - Slate
After orbital surveys of Slate showed huge amounts of resource deposits, N.S.P. decided to take on the challenge of landing on Slate with Kerbals to further understand the moon. Slate is similar to Tylo in gravity, and it is similar to Kerbin in size. However, N.S.P. didn't account for this in their rocket, and this made the mission nearly fail. But, in average Kerbelian fashion, the rocket was over engineered to suit the needs of the mission. Thus, Kerbelians were able safely land on Slate, and take beautiful pictures, and preform science over the region of landing. The ore was shown to be at over 5 percent in the region, but it was concluded Slate was far too dangerous, and large, to act as an efficient Stellar Gateway. After only one orbit of the mothership, N.S.P. took off to get back to it. Interestingly enough, the return craft was very heavy, and it barely got off the surface, but with the help of backup thrusters, it quickly escaped Slate's gravity, and returned to the mothership within the tight margins. Also, during the descent, the craft flew close to a mountain to get some science from it. This mission proved that over-engineering crafts is a reasonable strategy, and Slate was out of the picture. Also, Kerbelia can truly conquer beats like Slate.
- Stellar Gateway - Eeloo
During N.S.P.'s missions to Slate, K.M.L. was working on surveying Eeloo, and seeing if it would be a suitable area for an Interstellar Gateway. During this mission, much was learned about Eeloo, especially that it is very flat, and full of rare materials. At first, K.M.L. and N.S.P. sent a surveying satellite over Eeloo to aid in Kerbal Mechanical Lab's exploration of Eeloo, and also a relay network to allow for communications. Just like N.S.P., K.M.L. decided to send a manned mission to Eeloo even though they had no idea what it would be like. So, three brave Kerbelian Astronauts were sent to the surface of Eeloo, and they remarked the gravity of Eeloo has being very odd. It was stronger then the Mun and Minmus, but it was weaker than Duna. This caused them to trip a lot, and hit things that they didn't mean to. However, they eventually came over this issue, and the science came rolling in. The science indicated a band of Anti-Matter around Eeloo, and also an underwater ocean for water! This means that Eeloo could be used for much more than just an Interstellar Gateway. After this, it was concluded that Eeloo would be the moon of Saranus to house the Interstaller Gateway. This mission marked a turning point for K.M.L. as they proved themselves to be capable of doing things separate from N.S.P., and they could possibly compete with N.S.P. for contracts regarding Kerbelian Ideals. Construction
Now that Eeloo was determined to be the prime spot to build the Interstellar Gateway, construction soon began as Titan Sailors from Duna sent construction materials, and Rockets from Tekto sent supplies for the workers. Eventually after a few months, the base was complete, and it was based inside a crater of Eeloo to protect it from micro particles and radiation. Furthermore, it would be comparable in importance to Red Horizon Spaceport on Duna.
